Julia Harper, PhD, MS, OTR/L
Julia Harper, PhD, MS, OTR/L is a wife, mother, occupational therapist, business owner, psychologist, life coach & mentor, speaker, and writer. She brings all these roles together to serve her mission of helping people – all people to live their lives beyond limitations. For over 25 years, Dr. Harper has worked as a pediatric occupational therapist focusing on creating brain- based therapeutic programs that tap into neural-plasticity, the brain’s ability to adapt and change. Her world-renowned therapy center offers a WAY to HOPE which merges her two models: H.O.P.E. (Harper’s Optimal Protocols for Enrichment), which focuses on re-wiring the brain, and W.A.Y. (What About You), which retrains the mind to move beyond emotional and thought limitations.
In her role of Clinical Director at TheraPeeds Family Center, Dr. Harper has practiced exclusively as a pediatric occupational therapist with a diversified client population. She has trained extensively, conducted research, and holds advanced certifications in a variety of pediatric treatments. Dr. Harper is nationally recognized for her work in SI treatment and her unique approach to providing integrative therapy. She is also SIPT certified and continues to lecture and train therapist worldwide.

COURSE SCHEDULE
COURSE SCHEDULE
Course will begin at 8:00 am and end at 3:00 pm. There will be a 15 minute break in the morning and a 45 minute break for lunch.
- Welcome & Overview of SI
- Discussion of the factors influencing poor sensory processing, including diet, genetics, and sleep.
- Modulation: How does it Occur?
- Overview of the process of sensory integration and current neuroscience theories, the practical implementation of these theories and their treatment integration.
- Modulation Dysfunction: Treatment Implications
- Learn to recognize modulation dysfunction and its specific impact on each discipline.
- Treatment Strategies for Modulation Dysfunction
- Learn specific hands-on interventions to treat individuals with modulation dysfunction.
- Treatment Session: The Child with Modulation Dysfunction
- Observe the treatment strategies discussed in the course as they are applied with a child with modulation dysfunction, and participate in active clinical reasoning of the treatment session.
- Sensory Diet
- Learn how to design specific strategies for use at home and school, to increase carryover and functional skills for modulation and self-regulation dysfunctions.
- Case Studies
- Diagnose and write discipline specific goals and treatment plans as well as well as design sensory diets specific to their treatment.
- Sensory Sleuths
- Video case study and interactive group discussion. Therapist will observe and detect sensory dysfunction and then determine appropriate treatment strategies to address specific needs.

Educational Credits
Recognized by the NY State Education Department’s State Board for Physical Therapy as an approved provider of physical therapy and physical therapy assistant continuing education. Approved for 12 contact hours.
