Children who present with visual and ocular motor deficits often struggle in school. Through the use of video and case studies, participants will learn assessment techniques that will help them notice subtle visual deficits. In addition, specific evidenced-based treatment strategies will be discussed and practiced. Participants will learn how movement-based strategies strengthen the core and postural skills, which are crucial for eye function. Video examples of grading treatment according to the level of the involvement, which is critical for treatment effectiveness, will be addressed. Participants will learn how to differentiate whether a deficit is coming from the visual system or the postural system and be taught the appropriate path of intervention based on the source of the deficit. Understand how poor reflex integration impacts the visual system and compare methods to promote integration. This content-rich and practical course will broaden therapists’ effectiveness as they learn new techniques and strategies to enhance movement-based learning and visual efficiency.
